Why Was the USSR Concerned?

Leonid Brezhnev feared the reforms could threaten Soviet control across Eastern Europe.

The USSR worried that:

  • Western influence might spread into Eastern Europe

The Soviet leadership believed the Prague Spring endangered the entire Eastern Bloc.
