Secret Speech (1956)
In 1956, Khrushchev gave a secret speech criticising Stalin’s rule.
He attacked:
- Stalin’s dictatorship
- Terror and purges
- The cult of personality
This policy became known as de-Stalinisation.

This encouraged protest movements in countries controlled by the USSR.
