In 1969, Apollo 11 successfully landed astronauts on the Moon.
The astronauts included:

Why Was Apollo Important?
The Moon landing was seen as a major American victory because it showed:
- American scientific power
- Technological superiority
- Success in the space race
It improved American prestige during the Cold War.
