For example:

• Much of northern England had suffered during the Harrying of the North
• Some regions were difficult to assess

Not Every Person Was Recorded

The survey focused mainly on land and wealth.

Many ordinary people were not recorded by name.

The Domesday Book was created to help William govern.

It was not intended to provide a complete picture of everyday life.
