Hitler and the Nazis
Adolf Hitler believed the Weimar Republic was weak.
In November 1923, he attempted to seize power in Munich.
What Happened?
Hitler and Nazi supporters:
- Stormed a meeting in a beer hall
- Tried to start a revolution
- Marched through Munich
Police stopped the march and opened fire.
The putsch failed.
Consequences
Hitler was arrested and sent to prison.
While in prison:
- He wrote Mein Kampf
- He decided the Nazis should gain power legally in future
The Munich Putsch made Hitler more famous across Germany.
